Sundays @ 7
The Adobe Rose Theatre is excited to announce that it will launch its new education and outreach programming in Fall of 2016.
Titled Sundays @ 7, this creative educational program is designed to give performing artists, writers, and directors the opportunity and community in which to further develop their craft, and hone a personal process of approaching their own work while stimulating and affecting the work of others.
Developed and lead by award-winning actress and director, Staci Robbins, Sundays @ 7 will continue throughout the year, and as the name suggests, every Sunday at 7 pm. Offerings will include 6-week class pods, single workshops, writers’ try-outs, and new play readings and mini productions. Actor Study : A class for actors who wish to explore the dynamics of character development and responsibility to the role. Students consistently participate in scene study and character analysis to explore the emotional life of the character and their reality within the story and themselves. S@7 Artists Workshops : Single night workshops, lead by guest artists, that include writing for the stage and/or screen, stage combat, improv, movement for the stage, young actor study, scenic artistry, theatre tech, and business practices for artists. ART New Play Incubator: An evolving development and introduction of new works through staged readings, workshops and mini productions by new and veteran playwrights. Coordinating with Actor Study, “try-outs” of new material by local writers wishing to hear their works-in-progress will be read aloud by actors and discussed among Sundays @ 7 artists and directors. Some material will be chosen for further development for staged readings and possible full production during the theatre’s New Play Festival, kicking off in Summer of 2017.
